Songs are musical stories that are deeply rooted in human culture. Every country, every region has its songs and poems that speak of their heartfelt identity. From Switzerland with its four national languages, European Song gives a musical vision for a uniting European culture.

The internationally lined up quartet from Switzerland interprets works from contemporary and 20th century Western European poets and songwriters.

Winner of the international jazz vocal competition in Montreux/CH, Yumi Ito is a rising star of the Swiss scene. Roberto Koch is a double bass virtuoso from Venezuela and currently teaching at the Jazzcampus Basel/CH. Saxophonist and arranger-composer Niko Seibold worked for the grammy-winning Metropole Orkest/NL and studied at Manhattan School of Music New York.

Esther Sévérac studied in Basel/CH with renowned harpist Prof. Sarah O’Brien and holds two master degrees in pedagogics and solo performance with distinction. As a soloist she performed with the Basel Symphony Orchestra and was president of the Swiss Harp Association for several years. Esther has also been active in the Swiss Jazz scene. She worked with famous jazz harpist Park Stickney and acclaimed Argentine composer Guillermo Klein among others.
